Nobody would post their thoughts??
But, anyway, the pageant would be held tomorrow night.
Before final predictions are posted, here are more pre-thoughts I have. Please don't be offended by my comments, they are only my thoughts:
#13 San Francisco really impressed me. She has the natural look, seems to be a darkhorse to me (like Linda Chung and Sarah Song). I think she will do well, maybe winning is possible! USA hasn't won since 1999.....
Melbourne also has a impressive resume. She speaks a lot of languages and I'm sure the judges are impressed with her. I think she has a chance in top 10, maybe 5.
Auckland has never won before, but this year's delegate has a chance. She has a little Mainland China feel... but is tall and stands out.
Amsterdam is also a favorite. Very pretty, I think she will do well. Height (5'5") should not be a big problem, given that previous winners weren't too tall too.
Toronto and Vancouver, the press favorites. I like Toronto's official portrait a lot, but... don't see it in Vancouver. I think she might make the top 5, but don't see her winning. Toronto also won last year, so the judges will most likely be reluctant to crown Candy, although it is possible!
Bangkok is also great, but given that I never heard her speak before, nor walk, I don't know how she will do. I have her in top 10.
Hong Kong should have no problem cracking the top 10, maybe the top 5 given her interview skills. But, don't see a top 3 placement.
China would make the top 10 too, and I have #20 and maybe #5 as possible semifinalists.
I am from New York, so I hold hope that Cynthia can break the two year curse. She isn't facially strong, but has great stage presence. Hopefully she can make the top 10. She also seems to have a big fan base rooting for her on tvb.com.
Montreal is also a possibility.
This year's batch is competitive overall, not much favorites that I can immediately call winner. It is hard to tell, but hope my prediction wins in the end.
Final predictions to be posted tomorrow.
But, one prediction for now, my pick for Miss Friendship is: #13 San Francisco

JUST found out:
#5 Miss Foshan has just won Miss Friendship. Congratulations to her. I had a feeling with her too.
And, the top 5 most popular contestants (not sure if it is press favorites) are: #2, 5, 6, 10, and 18
#10 of Melbourne suddenly emerges as a favorite, watch out for her!

OK, I finally posted my final predictions. It absolutely changed after watching the promo videos and all the news photos on the internet. It is unfortunate how scare the resources are... how low the interest in the pageant is. San Francisco was my favorite earlier, but after looking at official portrait and other photos, she did not look what I expected her to be. She dropped in my top 5 to 11th place... I am rooting for Amsterdam. Very pretty girl, height should not be a problem in MCI. If she answers well in interview, she may win like Linda and Sarah (darkhorse win). I would be delighted if Auckland wins too, since it will be the city's first win! To my memory, Auckland has never placed in the top 5 before... their representative has the potential to do it. Toronto, a big favorite. She has the package, what TVB looks for in a actress. Wouldn't be surprised if she does, but gave te edge to Amsterdam bec. I don't want Toronto to win again ..... It isn't fun if Canada always win...... it would definitely discourage other cities from competing... And, a back to back victory seems to be hard (although, I know, it as been achieved before!). Vancouver: Is Eliza a mix? I think she resembles a little of Macy Chan (TVB actress). I don't think she will win, given that Vancouver has won many times... alth. it could happen. For some reason, I don't feel too excited for Toronto and Vancouver, unlike last year... I don't see it Hong Kong seems to be a favorite again (oh, the press says she would lose, while they choose her yesterday as one of the favorites!). Toby has the potential, if she excels in interview and talent (?), it is possible. I think she will make top 5. Top 10 semifinalists comments: Foshan and Melbourne seem to be prepared. They look great. Would not be surprised if one of them makes the top 5. For some reason, Montreal is overlooked... She is the best rep. since Jennifer in 2001 (imo). Henan and Bangkok are two gambles of mine, but given that Henan was the winner of the Mainland China preliminary and Bangkok was chosen as a press conference favorite before, they might be in. Out of the remaining 6 alternatives, I really hope to see one American make it. I am a little biased , but would be great if one out of the three American alternatives make it. Guangdong and Jianxi also look great, so who knows?? I watched Miss Macau and she maybe a possibility. I am sure the pageant will be full of surprises, but hopefully the winner performed well and put up a commendable performance. I am only afraid that if Toronto or Vancouver wins again, the pageant would lose more entries... Just my opinion, do not be offended. Samuel

BREAKING NEWS:
Just read on Oriental Daily that there is a newformat this year. 24 delegates will be divided into 3 groups. From there, they will compete to be 1st, 2nd, and 3rd.....
If this is true, then..... there will be NO top 10 or top 5!!! Or maybe, there is a top 12 (multiples of 3), but no top 10..... In any case, I think this format is weird... And from the top 2, there will be a final battle before the winner and 1st RU are chosen. Seems.... a little... weird.

Yeah, I totally do not understand whats happening. So they are split into three groups, then somehow they pick the third place and the winner and 1ru will have a competition with each other? So complicated... Hope it works though.
My Prediction according to the usual format Winner: Montreal (going for a complete dark horse. I think some kind of surprise is bound to happen this year) 1ru: Vancouver 2ru: Auckland Top 5: HK, Toronto Top 10: Kuala Lumpur, Foshan, Bangkok, Henan, New York

Ok i was just browsing the tvb website and it listed Nov 4 as rehersal and miss friendship. Nov 5 as recording and Nov 6 as awards presentation. Do you think that the recording will only show who is top two and the AUDIENCE gets to vote on the winner for the next day?

Here are some photos of the contestants in their swimsuits: The hot favorites: #6Hong Kong, #18 Toronto, #19 Vancouver #10 Melbourne criticized for her love handles: #16 Sydney "the bustiest contestant" #20 Hebei criticized for being too skinny for her tall figure (weighing 114Lb at 5'8.5) #15 Singapore titled the "dark horse" of this competition with her healthy figure #22 Foshan winning the "miss friendship award" (middle contestant of the photo) I think the crown will go to Toronto this year again (Candy definitely has the complete package). I feel that the 1st and 2nd runner up is fair game for anyone in this competition, but I have a tendency to root for Vancouver (since I'm a Vancouverite myself) so Eliza will probably take one of those titles LOL.
