Ina was very calm and sweet last year. Her win was well-deserved! I don't think Ivy is as stunning as her older sister, but I'm sure they're great in their own way. I guess the hype surrounding Ivy is because if she is crowned this year, this will be the first ever pair of sisters crowned MCI. Plus, it makes for good stories/entertainment value for the media to write about it. Quality of the girls might not be an "issue" like you've said.. but keep in mind that some regions take the Chinese pageants a lot more seriously. For example, MCT and MCV, Miss Chinese New York, Miss Astro Chinese (the ones i know of.. i might have left some out) are big pageants with training in make up, posture, dress etc... While some other places might hold pageants every two years.. and sending runner ups. So technically they're not the actual "winner" of the pageant in their region. So not all of them are "winners of their own regions".
Performance the night of the pageant is definitely the determining factor. I can't wait to see more of the official pictures! So far Aimee, Louise, and Serena/Sirena (sp? sorry) look great in their pics!

At the beginning of the MCT2006, Abigail was consider as one of the front runners but failed to advance to top five.

Oh, thank you for clearing that up. I guess it wasn't her lucky night. She might have shone on a different night.

Jenny, what happened in MCT2006? imho abi was never in contention to place. the only thing going for her was her resume but i heard from some sources that she fibbed a lot of things in her profile. ie: the number of languages she speaks.

So far, we can only judge the contestants based on their past performance during their reginal pageants, such as MHK, MCT and MCV etc. For those pageants we did not watch, we can only comment on their recent pictures which could be quite deceiving. One typical example for this is the MHK2006 pageant, Suki Tsui looks really sharp on pictures and her appearance on TV is just about average. In real person she is just like a girl next door.

Singapore has a very open face.
Tahiti is cute.
Chicago looks gorgeous.
HK is sweet.
But then again, you can't really judge by face alone...
Hi Lil, What do you mean by "open face"? I don't exactly know how to explain an "open" face. Minutely, it could mean that it would be hard for her to be deceiving without it being on her face. Honest, if you will. All her features are medium sized. Nothing bigger or smaller than another feature. I don't know if that answers your question...
Actually, the performance of the night isn't exactly the determining factor. There are a lot of other "judgings" before that night that has already decided who the winners are.
