I support Miss Vancouvar, hope that this year, winner and 1st runner-up of Miss Vancouvar can represent both toghther in MCI 2006~~! Cheer!~~~~. Voncouvar, Lets grap the opportunity to orgazine Miss Chinese International Pageant 2006. Since winner of 2005 MCI is from Vancouver. Others conturies, please grap the opportunity to orgazanise Miss Chinese International Pageant 2006 Are other countries even allowed to take MCI and organize it? As far as I know, it is a TVB thing.. And in the past, no city has had 2 delegates in the same year.. what makes you think they will do that this year? or any year in the future for that matter.....? That wasn't meant to be a personal attack, just my opinion on what you said.. so don't get all explosive on me.

Yah, that is why I do hope other country can organized MCI, to promote it to the world.
I suggest some city can had 2 delegates, it is like Singing Competition 2005 that recently organized TVB8. It is just my opinion.
Maybe Fairchild can held MCI 2006.

There sure is a lot of drama here. Putting all dramatics aside, I have to say that I'm proud that the Chinese communities from across the world can unite and honor the finest from our ethnicity. It doesn't matter what geographic location the winner comes from. It is just great that these pageants has become a part of our Chinese heritage.

i think its fair for TVB to host it, they started it in the first place and i dont think the production would be as good if its held from another place. And i hope tvb8 does NOT organize it because i watched the singing competition and it sucked....i think they should just stick with the original and dont always switch this and that....just makes it less attractive

Why dont let other country host it and have a good try, so i will get to promote chinese pageant to all over the world. Make it international pageant where other country have the chance to host it.

I don't think other countries/major cities would be able to host the MCI pageant. If we think about it, most of the pageants that lead up to MCI are from "major cities" of their respective countries. Most of those pageants aren't a huge production with the exception of Toronto and Vancouver. With that being said, Toronto and Vancouver's pageants limit it to 10 girls for a reason. Putting a production/pageant of that size requires a lot of time and money. I just don't think other corportions are capable of spending the time and money that TVB does to put on a production such as MCI with 20+ girls on average a year.
just my 2 cents....

I agree with that, other organizations usually don't have the money and time to organize something so big. And one of the most captivating prizes for the winner and top 3 are contracts with TVB.. I think many girls do this for the purpose of going into tvb..so it would make sense that TVB does it every year lol

I think there will be Miss Bangkok representative in MCI 2006. This is because they dont have any website about Miss Bangkok and we cannot get any information about MIss Bangkok. If I am not mistaken, there will be around 21 contestent around the world, including Miss Bangkok, Amserten, London, and lots more in MCI.

according to simon's mci's site there will be 22 contestants this year (same as last year), but calgary, auckland and san francisco will not participate and they will be replaced by johanesburg, caracas and hanoi. I have been following mci since the early 90s and I have noticed the dissapearance of some cities that participated in many mci editions in the previous years such as hawaii, london, macau, apart from the 3 mentioned earlier. The number of delegates generally remains at about 17-23 every year but there have been more than 30 cities that participatd in the past 17 years. It would be great to see all these cities participating in 1 single mci edition and it is a better way to promote chinese beauty. However i don't think this is likely to happen. I am actually wondering whether tvb actually controls the number of delegates to about 22 in order to fit them into the 2 hours show. What do you guys think?

perhaps TVB do control the numbers but one thing for sure is that they only accept contestants who won or sometimes at least came 2nd/3rd in their respective city/national pageant with the one exception - los angeles, unlike other so called international chinese pageants for example miss oriental pearl chinese international and miss chinese world that accepts absolutely anyone
