Talent performance at the moment. -Very impressed with Elva, her body choreography is very well maintained. Fluide movements coupled with feminity, she will score very high in this section if I were one of the judges. I can tell she has been trained from a tender age. The only downside, if I must say, is that Elva lacks that air of elegance which most classical ballerinas and performers carry on their faces; not that she's not pretty, she's very pretty on stage in her own rights, but she just lacks that special "element". But overall, definitely a visual and audio indulgence, thank you Elva. -Being a performer myself, I personally enjoy classical performances, i.e dancing by Elva, and Gu zhen piece by Ya-lan. However, for Ya-Lan, I felt that her music could have shown more dynamics through her intricate finger works, and her touch. Take your time to show the philosophical aspects of Gu-Zhen's music, and breathe in between each musical phrase . I know this is a daunting experience to perform in front of a large audience, so, again, great job and thank you! too bad no violinists, or pianists this year =(.

Hi Gretchen,
Thanks a lot for the update. I am living in rez so I dont have this opportunity to watch the show tonight. However my friend is recording the show on tape for me, so that's something to look forward to. ^^ My roommate went to the same Mandarin school with Elva, and she told me Elva has grown up a lot since my roomie last saw her, but Elva is just as cute as she has always been.
To some extent, I agree with you on how Elva is too cute (a bit fobbish, maybe), but lack the element of being gorgeous or elegant. I dont know what kind of characteristics judges are looking for, but I mean, Elva is only 18 yrs old. What can we expect of her? Showing a lot maturity of feminity? Definitely not! It's too her advantage being "Elva".
Anywayz, thanks again Gretchen, can you keep updating with the lastest news?

I didn't watch most of the show, except for the talent section of it. I heard some of their replies to the "flower fairy", and I won't single anyone in particularly out. However, I noticed that quite a few of them have too much unnecessary minor facial movements. For example, eyebrows moving, and head/shoulders moving when they formulate their responses.
In addition, your tone and choice of diction can tell us a lot about how cultured you are, and how well you carry yourselves in daily lives. I know this may seem harsh, but I must say that a few of the candidates need to work the way they present to the public. I know chinese (cantonese or mandarin) may not be their first language, but this shouldn't be a barrier to learning how to carry yourselves more eloquently.
I must give credits, again to Elva, who appeared to be the most well composed during the interview sections, maintaining her perfect posture, and a charming smile always.
Now, anxiously waiting for the grand finale.

it's funny how the MC said, "it's so *pause* difficult to choose this year" hahaha..
it's so obvious who will win. don't need a rocket scientist.

i thought elli should have won. she was the most natural and unique...who cares if she couldnt speak perfect cantonese? she is the most corageous because she oculdve opted to speak english the whole way .but no..she tried her best and smiled the whole way through..i was so disapointed she dinnt come first..she's by far the only contestant that actually stood out and had 'attitude' instead of being like everyone else. i thought talent shouldve gone to her..she showed her versatility of dance and tkd.
