It's a tough decision but here are my final picks:
Miss Universe 2017: Thailand
1st RU: South Africa
2nd RU: USA
Top 5 Finalists: Venezuela and Russia
Top 10 Semifinalists: Mexico, Peru, Philippines, Angola, Colombia
Top 16 Quarter-finalists: France, Indonesia, Great Britain, Brazil, Spain, Canada
Top 26 Bubbles: Iceland, India, Tanzania, Jamaica, Romania, Haiti, Sri Lanka, Japan, Guyana, Iraq
Special Awards:
Miss Photogenic: South Africa, Russia, Germany
Miss Congeniality: Tanzania, Austria, Iraq
Best National Costume: Myanmar, Thailand, Laos
This year will be unpredictable! There are many ladies that should make the top 16 but only a few will make it because of regional allocation. I can totally see Tanzania, Germany, and others make it as well but because there is not enough room in the bubbles section, I'll mention them here. I think Thailand has what it takes to win their nation's third Miss Universe crown - and possibly the Best National Costume award as well!! They did it in 1988 so it's possible.
If South Africa makes it past the top 10, I can see her making it based on interview, but I have a feeling she may win the Ruthie. We'll see how she performs.
The last top 5 spot will be fought between Russia, Mexico, Peru, and possibly Colombia but I gave the slight edge to Russia as I feel that IMG is not looking for a Latina this year.
It will be no doubt be exciting and suspenseful and I wish all the ladies the best of luck. May the best girl win!
