Very exciting!! I can't believe it but 2014 will be the first year, first time I will attend a Miss New York Chinese pageant! I have always wanted to attend the pageant but never hard the urge to do so until this year.
Not only is Linda Chung coming as a performer, this year's batch seem to be the best in many years (at least since 2006)!! There are a number of standouts and not many weird-looking girls. This is also the same thought I have for Miss Hong Kong! Very interesting year indeed.
I will go to the pageant and post my pageant commentary afterwards. It will be a late pageant so I will definitely be tired but.. I'm so excited!!
For now.. here are my pre-thoughts:
The one to beat is definitely No. 14. She looks very photogenic in photos and since she is the tallest, my eyes go directly to her. Facially I think she is the strongest and she has great presence. She also won the audience favorite award at the talent show held on August 2nd so I expect her to be a crowd favorite in the finals too!
I also like no. 3. She looks good in her Facebook photos. I hope she'll be consistent in person too.
No. 5 is from Hong Kong and even though the org. did not crown a Cantonese-speaking winner since 2004 (WHAT a long time btw), she has the potential too. I'm just surprised how Miss NY Chinese don't crown Canto-speaking girls since it's a advantage for them at MCI but then again.. not all the Canto-speaking girls were facially strong.. If they want a Canto-winner, she's it.
No. 12 also looks promising but it does seem she went under the knife. We'll see how she performs.
No. 11 is also delivering a sweet look that the judges may like. No. 6 is also one to look out for.
OK, so those are my pre-thoughts, I'll post my final predictions before Saturday at 7pm.
I'll go to Linda's autograph signing tomorrow and will get a first glimpse at the girls. Can't wait!!
