Even though few people come here now, I still decided to write my pre-thoughts of the Miss USA 2011 pageant. THE WINNER would be chosen THIS SUNDAY!! Preliminaries are tonight!
Very exciting indeed. I believe ONE of the states below will win the crown (the top 15 should be within here):
Minnesota Illinois Mississippi Missouri Maryland Kansas California Tennessee Michigan Indiana Texas Alabama Arizona Hawaii South Carolina Georgia Nevada Oklahoma Utah Virginia Massachusetts Connecticut New York New Mexico Colorado New Jersey Alaska (some say she is a possibility) Florida
Shoo-ins should be California, Tennessee, Michigan, Texas, South Carolina, and Alabama.

I decided to put Hawaii, New York, New Jersey in because many think they did well in the preliminaries. I also want to see them do well, although I'm sure some will make it, some will not (or maybe all will not).

MY TOP 15, comments WELCOMED!!!
In random order:
Tennessee* California Michigan* New York Arizona Georgia Hawaii Florida* Indiana New Jersey South Carolina Texas* Alabama* Utah Massachusetts
Shoo-ins for the finals, should make it without a doubt. California and South Carolina were in this group, BUT they did not perform as well as expected in the preliminaries, thus I took them out... But, I am still confident they will make the cut.
Trump picks should be: Massachusetts, Michigan, Arizona, Georgia, Utah, and New York
Watch out for Missouri, Maryland, New Mexico (some say she performed well), Colorado (maybe picked by the MUO), Connecticut, Virginia (also another prelim standout), Illinois (decent performer), and the list goes on!!!
Final predictions of all placings to be posted soon.

I think Florida will dominate scorewise (her catwalk is amazing) but lose out in the final question. She is not beautiful facially...
I HOPE and want Tennessee to win, very stunning and endearing woman.

Very busy today, no time to fully come up with my list of predictions. But, I already picked my top 15. Announce first my picks for Miss Congeniality and Miss Photogenic.
CONGENIALITY: Colorado, Minnesota, or New Mexico
Expect one of these three to take the title. Colorado for her recent story (getting evicted from home, losing her job, being homeless) to gain friendship/sympathy from the contestants. Miss Nebraska USA also had a tragic story last year (her father died while she was in the pageant) and she won Miss Congeniality last year!! TO ADD on top, Blair was also Miss Congeniality at Miss Teen USA 2006, so expect her to have friends.
Minnesota has a wonderful personality and seems to be very outgoing/confident.
New Mexico is also talked about to be extrovert and friendly.
MISS PHOTOGENIC - Who will win?... or will the award be given??
Miss Photogenic online voting is not available this year, unlike in previous years (NBC.com had a voting section). Does this mean NO Miss Photogenic award would be given this year??
Anyway, my picks for Miss Photogenic are California, Tennessee (beautiful face), Massachusetts, and Alabama (which won the award last year). Arizona may also be a alternative.
NEW FORMAT - Top 16 to 8 to 4.
Earlier, I mentioned in a forum that the MUO should bring new format and changes to the pageant. Well, I guess they listened, because they are offering a new format for this year's pageant! But, this is not exactly what I wanted... or expected.
Top 16 semifinalists (6 chosen by Trump, 9 by the judges, and 1 through internet voting).
EIGHT get eliminated after the swimsuit competition (too much, half the delegates eliminated only after swimsuit)
The top 8 finalists compete in evening gown.
FOUR (another half) get eliminated. A top 4 is announced and then undergo a interview (would be the casual, regular interview with top 5) and then the final question.
Winners and runner ups are then announced.
Such format is used because the organizers want to put time in for more audience/viewers participation... My first thought is, would this work??? SUNDAY will tell.

OK, let me post more thoughts before the pageant, which would begin less than ONE day from now.
CA and SC did not do as well as expected in the preliminaries. Thus, if they were excluded, I would not be extremely shocked; however, many are convinced they will make it regardless of their preliminary performance (chosen in pre-interviews).
Florida should make the cut based on preliminary performance alone.
Georgia seems to be a major favorite for the title, but, I don't get her... I don't find her facially strong.. but she should make the cut (I have her in the top 16, maybe top 8).
Tennessee is my favorite. Although her interview skills are decent (which will count a lot this year), SHE is too beautiful. I consider her to be the most stunning delegate of 2011, even prettier than big favorite CA!
Indiana should also do well, I think she has the potential to make the top 8.
Final list of predictions to be posted later.

OK, final predictions for Miss USA 2011!!
First is my top 16 semifinalists. These eight are (from 16th to 9th place):
Illinois, New Jersey, Arizona, Utah, Georgia, New York, Hawaii, and Massachusetts
Top 8 finalists (8th to 5th place): Texas, South Carolina, Alabama, and Indiana
Top 4 finalists and runner ups.....
3rd runner up is FLORIDA (Her preliminary performance made me take her up this list, I didn't even have her as a bubble before!)
2nd runner up is......
Michigan (She will most likely lost out on interview, but her gown presentation is too nice to leave her out of the top 4). Her pretty face will help her a lot.
FIRST RUNNER UP is...
California (Big favorite and bookmakers favorite. I would be happy if she wins too, but I have her in 2nd because her prelim gown just let me down. MOST likely she would change her gown for the finals, and hopefully she delivers. I WOULD NOT be surprised to see her win the crown).
WINNER is.....
TENNESSEE! This was a hard pick. Although she looks very stunning and cute, her figure and interview skills are frequently criticized. I hope she excels in the final question tonight. I would not mind seeing her for the whole year, since she looks extremely beautiful. Because of her beauty, I chose her over Misses California, Florida, South Carolina (her evening gown let me down...), and more.

OK, finally is the list of alternatives. I def. expect some to make the top 16 in here, but hopefully I successfully predicted all of the top 16 within these list of girls (below and above):
Connecticut, Colorado, DC, Kansas, Louisiana, Maine, Maryland, Minnesota, Mississippi, Missouri, Nevada, New Mexico, North Carolina, Vermont, Virginia, Washington, and Wyoming.
OFFICIAL RANKING of these delegates above: 17th to 26th place: Maryland, Nevada, Missouri, North Carolina, Mississippi, Connecticut, Virginia, Maine, Minnesota, and Colorado

Finished watching the pageant. The new format was...... don't know what to say. The final results were good though, I KNEW it was a fight between TN or CA.

Just wanted to write a quick review; I'm a lazy person so I might NOT write a review once the pageant ends two days later >_<.
PROS: 1. Loved the past clips of the various pageant years. Some videos I never saw before and I was delighted to see them. It made the pageant more classy, refreshed my mind about how pageants changed, and how Miss USA REMAINS BEAUTIFUL! Great history.
2. Fan voting - Although the viewers' choice was eliminated early (i.e. MA has shown this fans' voting doesn't work... like Miss Utah, Oregon etc. were eliminated early in 2008 and 2010 respectively.), this certainly allowed pageant fans to engage in a activity and participate in the judging process, WHICH IS GOOD!! THE ONLINE voting game was certainly fun too, although it could not allow tenths/hundredths voting, I enjoyed it.
3. Performers - "Written In The Stars" was a great song, I actually liked it!! It had a good beat for the girls to walk through. The swimsuit music could have been better imo.
4. FORMAT - The format was ok. It would have been better if more girls were allowed to compete in evening gown.
Cons:
1. Stage - The same T shape stage for Miss USA 2010 and Miss Universe 2009, 2010. Please change the stage in the future!!
2. Introductions - MISS AMERICA uses this introduction too. GO BACK to the pre-recorded introductions please (although this was pre-recorded, but what I mean is having closer tight shots).
3. GROUPS - Now this one killed the suspense. Fans who do not know the favorites (or viewers who are not pageant followers/experts) would find this elimination style exciting, but for fans who know who the big favorites are, that group would advance! It killed the suspense. The top 16 announcement was ok, but I would have liked if they announced it at a FASTER pace, since that's what distinguishes MUSA, MU, and Teen USA from Miss World and Miss America!!
4. BACKGROUND MUSIC - The music was the same as the preliminaries. I did not find it exciting or suspenseful (the final question music was decent). THE FINAL LOOK music was much more suspenseful.
-----------------------------------------------
In conclusion, the results were good. I really worried about California's gown before, but she certainly worked it tonight! I had her in 2nd, with Tennessee as the winner, but Tennessee's hand gestures and facial expressions cost her the crown... she certainly looked stunning though, PROVES HOW INJUSTICE IT WAS FOR HER NOT TO MAKE THE CUT AT MISS TEEN USA 2006. SHE REMINDS ME OF ERIN NANCE, unplaced at Teen USA 1988 but came close to winning the crown in 1993. Way to go Ashley!!
Congratulations to Alyssa and all the ladies. Now, I await to see Alyssa's performance at Miss Universe, will she be able to surpass Julie's extraordinary performance at MU 1983 and win CA's FIRST Miss Universe crown? September 12th would tell.
