Tough competition for sure... I think San Francisco and Vancouver will stand out for their Cantonese. Christine looks great too but I think if she can answer in Cantonese during the final night, it would be better.

Oh wow thanks for the videos! I think SF originally speaks Mandarin, that's why she has a bit of an accent. Everyone speaks so well though! I expect Skye to do well, because she can speak well... I don't know why Christine didn't speak cantonese in those videos, but from articles I read online, they say she can speak cantonese fluently.

We only have to wait to find out!

well, christine is from taiwan originally (came to toronto when she was 12) so mandarin would be her first language, i'm guessing she picked up cantonese after immigrating here?
i don't think speaking mandarin will be a set back anymore, as most candidates speak mandarin... and last year's winner was originally from mainland china. But if Christine uses cantonese, i'm sure that will not make her any less attractive!
i'm not sure why, but miss hong kong also spoke mandarin in one of the promotions, i'm guessing since they were vacationing in mainland china that they were probably speaking out to a mainland audience and had to use mandarin. 3 MORE DAYS!

Here's an article on what the judges look for in a winner: www.fsonline.com.cn/entertain/fsent/200901130081.htmSummarizing this, Susanna is looking for a good knowledge of the chinese culture, Gallen puts appearance as the most important (what?! I can't believe he said that...), and Kevin is looking for someone who can speak chinese well... And here's a video of the girl who can't speak, #7 from Hangzhou. I think this is an audition video... hi.people.com.cn/2009/01/14/424278.html

Thanks for the summary ahyee.
I like how honest Gallen is. Appearance is definitely very important in this competition!

this is the second time TVB make a good video before the final (first time was in MCI2006)
I think this year, TVB put more effort on organizing MCI!
I feel christine didnt speak very well, like speak very slow.

I watched two episodes of Scoop and SF seems to really standout for her Cantonese. I have a feeling she will perform well like Sarah Song in 2007.. have to wait and see. Cici has great stage presence too, have to see how Christine does on stage. Maybe I will decide to wait until the show on the 28th and not be online to keep the suspense...
