is IF TVB OFFER U A CONTACT U HAVE TO TAKE IT.. nah man..that's not it..the contract was 11 pages long. it contained clauses like if you want to go on vacation or call in sick you need TVB approval. Does that mean if they want to go take a dump they need to ask first? returning to what you were saying there, you are right were she would not have a say in the contract TVB does. so what happens if they sign her up for a porn movie? would you do it? they also had something like if ever want to go out of HK you need to have their written consent. ok reasonable in some case but what happens if she wants to go home or visit and they decline her?? she becomes prisonner of TVB or something? They also declined any liability/responsibility in any type of situation that could endanger her while performing her duties as miss whatever. and in the advent of a liability, she would have to pay for all the applicable charges?? if TVB is the employer, why should she have to pay for all the crap they mess up in? What happens if she gets injured or killed? oops, so sad too bad, next runner up plz!! also they reserve the right to make mistakes on the financial payments so that means that if they show her she earned 1$, she would have to accept it!! Can you smell rip off? or their non disclosure policy on the contract they negotiate...so if they negotiate a crappy contract, they get first dibs on their cut and expenses and then she can get whatever is left.. so again, I'm wondering how fair is that..or what type of rip off is this. they can make profit off her without even having to disclose her, the details of the agreement..they only need to tell her, here you made 1$ out of this contract but we ripped you off for 5 million$ for those who are HK bound or TVB workers, ask yourself if you were pretty enough, would you take such a contract? what's slavery worth to you? how much is your soul worth? there is one thing being pretty but there is another thing being stupid or ignorant of business practices.

lookin at the clauses, most companies need u to book ur vacation in advance so thats nothin new. TVB's equivalent is like USA's abc network, UK's BBC corp. etc so they have a social responsibility with the programmes, tv series they show and make so the thing about porn movies is not an issue. the thing about callin in sick and gettin injured, think about it, how much bad publicity TVB will get from the HK press if their girls did come in sick and get injured etc., not only ppl but companies need to keep a certain image and reputation. one thing for sure that is totally unfair is the 'they reserve the right to make mistakes on the financial payments' that is a rip off, but is that a certainty that mistakes will be made, u have to be cynical to think that. as 'inside helper' wrote if u more interested in the fame not money then i guess one can live with that. anyway once the contract is near end they can negotiate a better contract or jus leave.

true but think about it. this is written in black and white. I was able to get my hands on the contract and these are just a facet of what's written in there. the liability issue and the financial is enough to make you wonder what's going on here..if you are looking for just fame and no money, do something stupid or put your face on the internet and sing, you'll get more hits that way. just look at the star wars kid or the manumanu dutch man.
As for the bad publicity, you are talking to a media mungol here..they easily control print, tv, radio media so bad publicity will only occur on the part of the so called famous person. Like all US network, have you ever seen media attacking NBC or ABC or FOX? no, they'll go after individual like any of the actors (e.g. Katie holmes/Tom Cruise). Most people don't care about the media provider unless they do frauds or something illegal.

Yes, the contract is 9 pages long, with one cover page and one page of application form... so technically 11 pages
I dont know if any of you remembe Christie Bartram. She was offered a TVB contract and she declined. In other words, you do NOT have to work for TVB.

I do agree. If TVB is interested in the candidate, she may be offered a contract. However, decision to accept or decline is purely made by the candidate.

how about Tiffany Lam and Victoria Jolly, they wanted to go back to their studies when both still had a contract with TVB, although TVB wanted them to stay but they knew it was what Tiffany and Victoria wanted so they decided to let them go even without completing their contract.

I think it is different if you are a winner or a runner up. Maybe winners of MCI have to take a contract if they are offered one but runner ups have a choice.

Were they offered a contract though? Maybe they weren't offered one, that's why they are not in the entertainment industry
