i really didnt think 3 was really that special...and is it just me or are the pageants becoming more and more "china"?...like girls from any canadian city is suppose to be hot and whatever but all of a sudden all the winners we send back to the internatioal competition..they are all lacking in something..they just dont WOW me at all!

i agree that more and more girls from china are competing in the pageants. when i first came to Vancouver (1997 wow almost 10 yrs ago!) and watched the MCV from that yr i think all of the girls spoke cantonese except for one girl (the 1st runner up if I'm not mistaken....) and look at the MCV this yr 8 of the grls are from china, 2 from vancouver~ however I don't think that girls from china "lack something"... most of them are very well educated, smart, articulate, and yes good looking. Take 6 for example, I know more about her because she is good friends with one of my friends. She is 4th yr @ UBC doing the biotech/biology program and works part-time at a biochem lab, and in her spare time she takes ballroom and traditional chinese dancing lessons. I think the reason why Chinese girls seem to "take over" the pageants is because there are just more immigrants from China now as opposed to 5 or 10 years ago. So overall there is a bigger pool of better qualified girls from China.

aperi .. I don't think that it's contestant #6 you're referring to. #6 Belinda goes to York U.
IMO, I'm glad that #3 Sherry & #12 Cleone placed in the top 3, but I feel that other girls should've placed instead of #6. I agree that Belinda is indeed photogenic, and possibly, the prettiest of the bunch, but, from what I've heard about her, I just don't feel that she should've gotten all those awards and placement.
A placement in the top 3 indicates that the contestant has a role-model ability to them. I've heard a lot of the smoking, drinking, and endless partying that Belinda does. I'm not saying that it's wrong because everyone has the right to do that. But, I just don't think that she exhibits the role model trait that they're looking for.
Again, this is only my opinion and I'm sorry if I've offended anyone.
Congratulations to all the participants though and good luck to #3 Sherry in representing Toronto in the Miss International ! =)

I don't think judges pride hot-ness~ otherwise, she would win top 3. Carolyn has very sharp features...too bad.

i was watching that fairchild tv "What's On" and they were talking about MCT 06 they interviewed the judges, and many of them commented that it was tough deciding if #3 or #6 should take first place. I couldn't remember exactly what the judges said, but i think one of them mentioned that during the last portion of the show #3 did a a bit better than, #6... something like that, if u get a chance just watch the re-run of "what's on"
