So the final 16 contestants have been revealed. Any thoughts? In my opinion, this year's selection is a little disappointing as no one seems to stand out. The rigorous training from MCV will serve Kayi Cheung well in HK. Perhaps Kayi and Lorretta will receive a bit of media hype due to their previous titles in Vancouver competitions (MCV and New Talent Singing Contest). I just realized that the overseas contestant Leung Wing Sze (Janis Leung) went to my high school but was in my younger brother's grad class. She seems to have gotten prettier over the years.  |

Both Lorretta and Janis are my friend's friend. What a small world. Lorretta just finished up her first year at UBC and I believe Janis just graduated from UBC. Honestly i've seen lorretta in person, and i don't find to be pageant beauty type. She did take some really nice profile shots from her new talent singing days.... The girl can sing, i just wonder if she has the full package to also be a beauty queen. She's tall, but her body lacks of curves. Janis, i don't know much about her, but that she does go clubbing alot.... but i mean which 20-something year old don't go clubbing. I think janis looks best out of the 4 overseas candidate Kayi, i wasn't that happy with her performace in MCV, her face is decent, but i don't know if she's the type of girl TVB would give her a contract, because to me she doesn't stand out. And the pictures of her during the gown fitting does her no justice... Poor girl's face looks like it's swelling up, and her face looks greasy  photo credits: miss hong kong gallery |

hahah...yes yes. Everyone in Vancouver knows each other indirectly. I agree that Janis is the prettiest out of the 4 overseas contestants. Her face is very symmetrical! The only problem is that she's quite short in comparison to the other contestants. I think Kayi's face is structurally quite large so I don't think she looks bloated. Out of all the contestants, I think she is one of the few who appeal to me. I don't really get the hype with the alleged Gigi Lai look-alike. She's quite cute but Gigi Lai is much prettier! As for Lorretta, even if she doesn't win the pageant, she can always pursue a career in modelling or singing. Lastly, the overseas contestant in the white dress with yellow flowers looks like Elaine Yiu (Yiu Chi Ling). Lots of Vancouver girls in the pageant this year!!

lorretta really stands out, mostly because of her height. i met lorretta once, she was quite shy and she had so many friends and the fashion show, lorretta is definitely my favorite in the pageant (haha i'm being a little biased!!)

I was just reading the articles and I can't understand why #2 is considered a "hot fav"
Her face is not that pretty. And her figure looks quite bad...at least from the swimsuit shots.
By looks I like 3 (poor Kayi had some bad shots, but the recent ones look quite nice), 7, and 8 so far...but I haven't watched their performances or anything yet.
I wish I had TVB.

I agree, Kayi is not bad, i think she looked really good in her swimsuit, she's not bone skinny and she's got curves.
I don't know what's the big hype about #2 either. I don't see the
Gigi lai resembalance.. I would be shocked if she took home the crown, since i personally she's a bit too young, and i don't think she stands out.
I don't have a favourite yet haha, it's way too hard to choose.
But I think 7 (lorretta) has a good chance, she has the confidence, and stage presence. I think 8 (janis) really lacks the height to be a beauty queen, but who knows! Yeung yuen yee (winnie yeung) was considered to be short, and she won first.
there's also something about number 10.. she had a good interview during the preliminary round.

oh true - 10 doesn't look too bad either, her smile seems kinda funny sometimes, but it might be from having to smile so much XD I just can't get over how Loretta looks soo much like Flora Chan!  |

I'm totally rooting for Kayi, and that's not just because she's from Vancouver. So far my favourites are #3, 7,8,12 and possibly 9 and 10. I don't know how to explain it, but Kayi has this sense of elegance to her even though she isn't that pretty. I'm sorry, Loretta isn't very pretty to me but I agree that she has a presence and that will serve her well in the pageant. I'm kind of bias with #8 Janis because she went to my high school but I do think that she is very photogenic. I think she looked great in the profile picture. #12 is my favourite to win! I think she's the prettiest of the bunch!
How come the makeup in the profile pix is so dark this year? Oh well, I guess it brings out a more romantic side to the girls. Sooo glad to see more discussions about the pageant. Its been kind of quiet so far!

so are those pictures in rana website official pictures of those contestants? but how come its still not on tvb official websites though?
agreed with few of u... no. 2 is overrated... she's pretty but probably dont have the winner look. some how or rather.. i think loretta will win even though she is not my type of pretty.. but i guess her height helps and she do have the winner look.

it's the wonders of make-up that help. But I do like the profile pictures for this year's Miss Hong Kong, its simple and the background's white. haha. ;D Oh and #10 does really have a resemblence of Joyce Chen (the actress from Virtues of Harmony). I kinda feel bad how the press are targeting #2, like they did to Suki Chui last year.

hehehe...I agree. #10 does look a lot like Joyce Chen! I also don't understand the hype surrounding #2 and I definitely don't see the Gigi Lai resemblance. Yeah, the HK press can be very cruel as they will say anything to sell. But unfortunately, I have to agree with what they said about #16. She's sooo thin that its scary!

The profile pictures are great this year! The make up really did wonders for the girls... I couldn't recognize a few of them! Is it just me... or does #15 kind of resemble Kathy Chow... and a little bit of #14 Kayee Tsang... she was a part of MHK 2004 (hot door.. that didn't end up placing in the Top 4).
