I agree with the above poster, Elva had a pretty face, but she lacked in other areas such as "classiness" and elegance, however, I thought Vancouver would place in the top 3, maybe they didn't want Vancouver to appear so successful after so many years of winning? Oh well, she did make it to the top 5

elva was not classy? what about annabelle. omg i can't believe she won, esp. during the segment where they used food to describe themselves. She was funny yes, but her words and laughter was somewhat crude. Nowhere near my definitions of classy or elegant.
Elva was a bit boring though..too quiet and she's not as pretty as in her photos...photogenic i guess.

yes guest i agree with you. Anabelle is a very typical 'lala' girl (in malaysia it is referred to lower class chinese who normally speak cantonese in a very loud manner) by judging from the way she carries out herself. In fact all rep of KL since rachel tan have been very 'lala'. For ppl who dont know malaysia much, you can actually judge whether a chinese malaysian is 'lala' by looking at their names. The more cultured people will have more traditional british names that are normally taken from the bible such as laura, kelly, rachel etc, whereas those with more 'creative' names are lower class people but thank god kl has not had a rep named fanny or channel or some other names that sound stupid.

u can tell by name alone...honestly that sounds ridiculous and if its true...poor girls with creative names and those 'lower class' ones here's some advice: go change your name! so vivien yeo is 'lala' too? hold on i've never read the bible, but it contains the names laura, kelly and rachel?

Yes, my only comment is that people who are in the higher class, are usually more educated; hence, they would be more likely to choose decent, and classy names for their children.

Oh yeah vivien yeo is. She used to go to sunway college and everyone knows that she is the very loud type of 'lala'. Everyone would agree that she was one of the preetiest girls around, but the less classy one among them.

Good point! Not many posters have discussed about their education levels/ elegance this year. It makes sense that Elva is a high school student at age 18, (while Vicki is a college student at age 17 already ;D) just not an advantage. IMHO, Elva is pretty and tall, but somewhat common looking and too skinny (I'm from the "older" generation). Anyway, I think MCI sound more fair than MHK. Recent MCI winners are usually beauty queens in terms of confident, nice smile, outstanding facial features, balance figures and elegant. Despite the disappointment, I still think the result is quite satisfying. I was first surprised that Ginney is Miss Youth, not Elva; but after viewing the pic again and again, Ginney does look the most innocent with her great smile, she is so lady-like, soft yet cute. Ina is confident. If Crystal lose just 1/2 inch, she has the best figure, and some of her pose showed that she is a lil bit boyish, I meant friendly. No comment about Miss KL's elegance/ classy, maybe the judge thinks that she's entertaining and fun. It's not toronto didn't have enough knowledge, it's she's just not sophiscated... highschool .., she looks like girls u can see from K-bars and stuff; not classy at all... Elva doesn't appeal to the older generation's definition of beauty...

erm..vickie isnt in 'college/university'..quebec has a diff system..EVERYONE graduates in gr.11 and instead they take 'CEJEP' which is also known as 'college'..but is equivalent to ontario's gr.12 and perivous OAC.

There were very specific reasons why the winners were the winners.
first, Ina had the whole package. Poise, elegance, intelligence, talent, captivation, body, attitude, but most importantly, she was quiet.
second, Ginney had a symmetrical face. Very marketable. tvb likes faces like that. In fact, entertainment companies like faces like that. (my brother, who's in the entertainment industry, said she would place just because of her unique face alone. )
third, look at the judges. Jang Yu Ling was one of the judges. Belle's attitude mirrors that of the judge. She likes girls that speak up for themselves. Not to mention she could make tv shows more appealing than if she just stood there and delievered her line.
again, you have to realize why there is even a pageant. RATING and MONEY!! all winners, MCI and MHK all work for tvb afterwards. they pick those that the audience would want to see on tv because it's a guarantee way of getting ratings!
But all that aside, I truly feel Ina was rightly crowned.
