???Not good, TVB weekly#499 states that Zhao is a middle school/high school graduate only, the lowest among all the girls. Her chances must be hurt by this factor alone!

To all members,
Just ignore any comments from insane mcimci or aime .......
Sour grapes' comments make us bitter, presumption without solid proof make us angry, repetitive postings make us sick ; all the nonsense drive us nuts.
Time to send him/her back to Ching San!

she's pretty...but with that level of education, age, and the fact that she can't speak cantonese will probably hurt her chances.

i agree, she has the potential actually, unfortuantely because of her education i doubt she can be the new winner. perhaps 2nd runner up.

I honestly don't see education being the major factor here. Linda Chung won with 1 year of university, which really isn't that much better. I mean, at the end of the day, she is also an university drop-out, regardless of how you look at it. Sure she's successful now, but she can not really consider herself having "university education" either since she's a drop-out. On a resume, she would be equivalent to a secondary graduate.
Besides, it's not like they're trying to be world ambassadors. Everyone knows that most want to get into acting, and frankly, some of the better actresses don't really have all that much education and it's not that necessary. Look at Carina Lau for instance.

js4: if you take a look back at the reigned mci winners, you'll see that 97% of them are in university.
she made it into ubc which is a pretty hard university to get into now, so she would be considered as a student there.
besides, acting is a job and people still have to look at yor resume. tvb insiders tell me that they like a winner with poise, grace and also with a proper education
have you heard of the frequent quote from the pageants "may mau u gee wai" which means beauty and education.
in vancouver they pick the smartest delegate in the competition (mcv results are mostly based on the q and a)
that may be ur opinion, but this is mine.

js4, you have a point there, but then Zhao Ying Ying is already 24 years and has only completed secondary school education so far. Even though Linda Chung left university to pursue a career in acting, she applied and was actually accepted into UBC.
I'm not saying that Zhao Ying Ying was or will be rejected if she ever applied for university, but it gives off a better impression to have 'university' rather than 'secondary' under education.
I'm thinking that maybe Linda asked for the five year absence allowed from UBC. I remember hearing that Bernice did the same, but at the end of the five years, she decided not to return to UBC. Can anyone clarify this?

I believe 5 years absence is allowed, or tell UBC that you'll be taking time off, because they'll fail you if you skip more than i forget how many classes. A contestant in 1999 MCV was kicked out of UBC and then she attended Langara.
I did hear about Bernice taking absence and I highly doubt she'll be heading back now. As for Linda, I remember someone telling me that she will continue her contract someday..my aunt is in her 40's and she went back to U of T to continue her education, you can learn at every age..
and if your profile is really right..i think you're 13/14 right now?? i must admit, i'm younger than js4 (just by a year or two). and i am ashamed to admit that i'm actually a straight C student. but after seeing past winners i decided i should get up on my shoulders and start working my butt off because i really don't want a job in mcdonalds or burger king and eventually become an actress. hopefully my next report card will be more appealing lol!!

LOL, whoops, I think I did the whole registration wayy too fast. I'm actually in university now lol. Wow, everyone does use Internet now haha. I remember that not even knowing too much about what the Internet was when I was 12 years old, but you seem pretty mature for your age, charxyeung. If it's any comfort, your marks now don't mean a thing later on (they won't hold it against you), but of course, as annoying as university is, I guess it's still useful=P
I suppose it does look better to be an university drop out in this case lol, but if you were applying for any other job, it certainly wouldn't look good--in fact, they'll probably hold it against you for not having commitment to finishing your goals, etc.

im in high skool...anyways the MCV winners that also won the MCI were all in the same university...UBC. i think tvb does really choose actresses with a higher education level...if linda came bak to ubc i'd totally go to ubc when im older
