Depends on ones can speak Cantonisis or not, Why want to join TVB?  world of entertainment only TVB? TVB will only take care HK people only, why is it that HK stars singers speak mandarin if they can on mandarin channels and not cantonese?! why is it that HK Taiwanese actors voices always dubbed with local accents in mainland tv series?! why does everyone want to join TVB? bcoz it launched the careers of international star CHOW YUN FAT, international critically acclaimed star TONY LEUNG CHIU WAI, international critically acclaimed star MAGGIE CHEUNG MAN YUK, critically acclaimed director actor STEPHEN CHOW SING CHI.................... u should jus forget about MCI and jus watch miss chinese cosmos as everyone speaks mandarin! do u kno why? bcoz its produced by mandarin channel jus right for u. if the contestants wanted to enter mainland chinese entertainment industry then they would of entered mainland chinese beauty pageants! but no they wanna enter HK TVB's MCI.........u figure it out!!!!!!!!!! |

i think most of the girls do have bf and most of the girls have seen this site before they went to HK.. but u r the only one stand out.. i can understand why.... i think u have to understand that chinese entertainment is different... they 1000 time worse than "people" mazagine... it is a way to attract readers.... so..... hope u can understand.. good luck

TVB pays $25-35,000 U.S. base salary but you get covered for your food and living expense and will live with the other TVB newcomers like Fala, Vivian, Leanne, Linda, etc. The salary is the same no matter how many series you are signed up to do. Dependent upon the ratings and reviews, you may be signed on to do more series after a "Trial" period.
You also get more money on top of your base salary if a "cosmetic company, clothing line, food companys, etc." asks you to be one of their spokesperson by shooting a magazine ad, commercial, runway show, etc. TVB gets 20-30% of that money and you get the rest.
It is hard for TVB to sign someone who can’t speak Chinese. Especially since TVB usually offers 3-6 year contracts and usually promotes their girls through their dramas. You're also going to be competing for jobs with ALL the newly signed on Miss HK or MCI winners each year. Your chances of making lots of money are very slim and that's why many of them leave TVB after 2 years as they are struggling to make it.
I heard about the salary structure and lifestyle from a good friend of mine that is currently signed on with TVB. Your also going to have to portray a "SINGLE image" and everyone is going to speculate on your private life. My friend is actually one of the luckier girls because she's getting paid more on top her base salary.
It’s really an individual preference. You're HONESTLY NOT GOING TO MAKE lots of money through TVB if you can't speak Chinese, preferably Canto, but if you like the entertainment business, the fame, the recognition, the glamour, and don't care too much about the money, then yeah go for it.
But if you're into making decent money and having a care-free life, TVB is probably not for you. I’m not in the entertainment circle but I make 3x as much as my friend. I’m not bragging, I’m just giving you the analysis/comparison of the TVB world. You can make 2x as much being a nurse, marketing manager, teacher, or a Human Resources manager.

Hi there "inside helper" !!! Thank you very much for your advices. I really appreciate it. I will send what you wrote to my gf so she can refer to it. It is very VERY good to have many examples to judge situations properly. So thanx to everyone who gives advices and examples. When you're new in business, no one helps you. Everyone's just trying to f*** you, so it's good to know what can come later. The contracts TVB gives are REDICULOUS. There are some closes that are impossible to understand for ordinary people. There are some news to come soon. I will update each page of this forum when it comes, so everyone can read it.

As someone says earlier in MCT forum, parents of girls from higher SES usually disallow their daughters to attend such competitions for the public to scrutinize, to know thier measurements and such. I somehow felt that Vicki's parents were never supportive of her going into the pageant, that's why they flew to HK to get their daughter out of it before she actually wins. I mean looking at the other delegates, her parents should be very confident vicki will win top 3. Plus if the family has some power, and financial status in the society, they wouldn't want their daughters to take part in such competitions.. i mean it's not like the CHopin competition or the international sibelius competition..if it's such competition, her parents would be 100000% supportive.
