How come the pageant seems kind of quiet this year? There's only a week left and there hasn't been too much news about the girls.

Based on the result above, as can see very year MHK sure get something back,.
SO this year, since MISS NEW YORK WINS AUDIENCE FAVOURITE AWARD, which is not MHK,
Number 8, Carol Li Rui of Pearl River won the International Splendour award, which is not MHK,
Then TVB is helping MHK to get MCI winner+ 1st runner up+ 2nd rnner up + Miss Friendship

I think you meant TVB is helping MHK to get MCI winner OR 1st runner up OR 2nd runner up OR Miss Friendship.
You wrote winner + 1st ru + 2nd ru + miss friendship,
by what you wrote, how the heck can HK get ALL of those awards in one go??

on the host issue again, hK does not make the semifinals at Miss World and Miss International is different than MCI. First of all MCI has a little more than 20 delegates. MI has 50 delegates, and Miss World has like 100 DELEGATES. Now, do you think that in a international pageant like MI and MW, the batch will be better than MCI or worser? I'll tell you, BETTER! Now since the batch will be better and higher, do you think HK having no prefessional training or wardorbe will make the cut? Chances are low. Now since, MCI has fewer delegates, lower standards, will MSHK chances of placing be higher? YES! Now, that's how HK makes the cut at MCI occasionally and not at MW or MI. It's not because HK is a host delegate and they will make it. There's no definitely or 100%.

In the past couple of years, various cities have always done well in MCI and those are the ones who have their contestants endure months and months of intense training. We're talking about dropping everything in their lives for 3 months just to go through daily trainings. Such cities include Hong Kong, Vancouver, Toronto, Kuala Lumpur, etc. When you see their performances at MCI, they usually stand out from the rest of the crowd. So really, that fact that Hong Kong and the other listed cities have done so well in MCI is not because of favoritism but due to A LOT of hard work on the part of the contestant.

I think the one who really doesn't like to watch MCI is mcimci him/herself...so stop accusing others...and why are you acting like a pain in the @$$? this forum shouldn't be used for stupid, dumb comments like yours...
you comments don't make any sense...you haven't watch MCI ever I think! because if you have, then you will understand why MHKs are always in top3, top 5 or receive sideawards...so please don't spoiled it for others here, who are really interested in this pageant...

Exactly as Samuel has stated. In the Miss World for example countries like Venezuela ALWAYS do well finishing in Top 5, not because they have inside help, but because their delegates actually take A WHOLE YEAR off dedicated to training for the big title. Real beauty boot camps!
They take pageantry so serious that one winner of Miss Universe many years back, I don't remember from which latin country (could be Venezuela or Puerto Rico) was given tax-free status from her country FOR LIFE!
How does Hong Kong compete with that kind of training?
