Hi everyone. I believe the competition was some kind of talent/promotion of the contestant's home town. Miss Pearl River won for demonstrating the Foshan local art of papercutting. Here is the news article about it as written up on tvbspace.blogspot.com. Aimee didn't do so well, but I think most people would mess up if everyone was laughing at you. As some comedians would say "Tough crowd". Well, here's the article.
The twenty-one Miss Chinese International contestants were at a real estate promotion yesterday in Nanhai, where they also held the 'International Splendour Award' contest. When Number 2 Aimee Chan used a Bruce Lee DVD to introduce Hong Kong, she struck many of Bruce's poses, causing a lot of laughs, but she stuttered a lot and made a lot of mistakes, talking nonsense about Bruce as a comedian before making a quick exit. The award was taken in the end by Foshan local Number 8 Carol Li, who demonstrated the local papercutting art.
Asked if she failed in her act because of the pressure, Aimee said: "No, there is no pressure on me, I think I failed because I did not rehearse enough and I could not concentrate. People were laughing at me when I was posing and this affected me."
Angela Tong attended the event as a judge and when she announced the winner, she misread Foshan as 'forshan' (volcano), making everyone laugh. She later explained that this was because she had written the English phonetic as 'fo shan', so this confused her.

Based on the result above, as can see very year MHK sure get something back,.
SO this year, since MISS NEW YORK WINS AUDIENCE FAVOURITE AWARD, which is not MHK, Number 8, Carol Li Rui of Pearl River won the International Splendour award, which is not MHK,
Then TVB is helping MHK to get MCI winner+ 1st runner up+ 2nd rnner up + Miss Friendship

Miss Hong Kong sure win!!! Why? Because: 1. held in Hong Kong 2. Held by TVB 3. Speak cantonese 4. based on past year, every year also win .......lots more....internet ppl Ask a question, why when during TVB send 1st runner up of Miss Hong Kong to Miss World, did not win? (based on past year title) and also 2nd runner up to Miss International also lose up? BECAUSE IS NOT ORGANISE BY TVB........simple answer.

Simpler answer... because in Miss world or Miss International there are 50-60 delegates from around the world. What are the chances of winning?
